It’s Monday, which means it is time to share – or produce? – our week three New England NCAA Division III Football Top 10 Poll.
For the second-straight week, Endicott College remains our top team – the Gulls have scored back-to-back non-conference wins over St. Lawrence University (27-0) and WPI (24-0) and will look to continue their early-season momentum at home on Saturday against The College of New Jersey (TCNJ).
Both Trinity College and Wesleyan University moved up while Springfield College remained in the third position for the second-straight week.
Salve Regina University rounded out the top five following a come-from-behind victory over MIT while Anna Maria College moved up three spots following a convincing win over UMass Dartmouth.
Framingham State and Plymouth State joined this week’s poll by securing the final two spots.
Noontime’s Top 10 Poll: Monday, September 12, 2022 (Week Three)
- Endicott College (2-0, 0-0 CCC) (LW: No. 1): The Gulls defense pitched its second-straight shutout last Friday, handing WPI its first loss of the 2022 season. This Saturday, expect the early-season momentum to continue against TCNJ.
- Trinity College (0-0, 0-0 NESCAC) (LW: No. 4): It’s finally game week for the Bantams – this week, they visit Tufts University, a team they beat last season in their season-opener, thanks to Spencer Fetter (three passing touchdowns) and Will Kirby (three rushing touchdowns).
- Springfield College (1-1, 0-0 NEWMAC) (LW: No. 3): Springfield remains in the same position as they were a week ago, despite suffering a heartbreaking defeat to Rowan University. Springfield will be tested this week against an undefeated Union College squad.
- Wesleyan University (0-0, 0-0 NESCAC) (LW: No. 5): Like the Bantams, the Cardinals will kick off its season this weekend against Bates College. Wesleyan beat Bates last season, thanks to a late touchdown pass from David Estevez.
- Salve Regina University (2-0, 0-0 CCC) (LW: No. 6): Somehow, someway, coach Kevin Gilmartin’s squad is finding ways to win games. On Saturday, they needed a late touchdown drive to seal a come-from-behind win against MIT.
- Anna Maria College (1-0, 0-0 ECFC) (LW: No. 9): Alex Cohen and the AMCATs were quite impressive on Saturday as Anna Maria stunned UMass Dartmouth, 63-48. Cohen concluded the contest with six passing touchdowns and two scores on the ground.
- UMass Dartmouth (1-1, 0-0 MASCAC) (LW: No. 2): After scoring an impressive opening day win over Husson University, the Corsairs slipped to the seventh spot following a 15-point setback to Anna Maria. This week, the Corsairs will look to bounce back against Framingham State.
- University of New England (2-0, 0-0 CCC) (LW: No. 8): For the first time in program history, the Nor’easters have begun their season with back-to-back wins. UNE topped Bridgewater State this past weekend, thanks to Jarrett Henault, who recorded five touchdowns, including a pair on the ground.
- Framingham State (1-1, 0-0 MASCAC) (LW: NR): The Rams overcame a two-score deficit to beat St. John Fisher for an important non-conference win. Cully Curran and Michael Brooks combined for 16 total tackles, including one tackle for a loss of 10 yards and four pass breakups.
- Plymouth State (2-0, 0-0 MASCAC) (LW: NR): It’s been three years since the Panthers began their season with back-to-back wins – with a victory this weekend against Bridgewater State, the Green and White can match their start from 2019 with a 3-0 record.
On the Rise: MIT (1-1, 0-0 NEWMAC), Western Connecticut (1-1, 0-0 MASCAC), and Western New England (1-1, 0-0 CCC).
